A few weeks ago, I reported on Infiniti using the front-drive Mercedes-Benz A-Class platform for a potential hatchback model. Well, that deal is finally coming to fruition. Infiniti is hard at work on engineering a luxury hatchback for 2014. Even better, the automaker is close to selecting a final design.

In Evanston, Infiniti G37 customers are eagerly awaiting the final selection. A hatchback model has long-interested Infiniti fans, so for many, this is a dream come true. Right now, there are three different designs on the table. The official one will be chosen in January.

Hatchbacks have steadily grown in popularity over the years. The time is right for a luxury version, and Infiniti is the right automaker to create it! At the local Infiniti service center, Lisle customers are curious to see what Infiniti comes up with. 

The automaker has a sixth sense as to what its fans are craving. So I'd bet the design will be a winner. Plus, the partnership with Mercedes allows it to focus solely on the look and feel of the vehicle without getting bogged down in technology.

With a final choice being made in January, the actual production probably won't begin anytime soon. However, it's possible Infiniti could unveil a concept model at a fall showing in Paris or Los Angeles.
